thanks for the comments, the trees with the heavy vines on them are fiberglass, the green looking "vine" ia going to be anaconda type snakes, heads are being carved in clay as we speak and should be going on in day or two, everything else in the cafe is sprayed/carved stucco',rocks, walls, bigger trees'

aww..I was hoping the trees and vines were carved concrete!  Did you make them or buy them?

yup sorry michael, the cafe opens in two days and we have had only three weeks in there to do all the re-fit and not enough time to do everything in concrete.we made the trees ourselves atleast, carved the blanks out of clay then pulled fiberglass moulds of them

clays fun,i prefer to use stucco/concrete myself,,have a mate that works with me who does quite a bit of clay sculpting

Comment by MIchael Lambing on February 8, 2012 at 8:14pm

what is the processs with the clay and the fiberglass?..have to shape the clay..then make a rubber mold?..then spray fiberglass into the mold?..

Comment by gareth spud farrelly on February 9, 2012 at 1:55pm

hi michael, yeah clay is sculpted,on smaller items we make a latex rubber mould, but on the trees fiberglass molds were made reinforced along back edge with 4x2 lumber, pop the fiberglass mold from the clay tree, the coat inside of fiberglass mold with release agent,,gel coat and sheets of fiberglass, allow to cure the pop the finished item from the mold
