This one is my biggest carving project yet. Wish I would've had Jeff's advice for this one. Flex-c-ment served well but a better mix would've allowed for more detail.

nice job!  did you do the rock, stain, and then use a squeeze bag for the mortar joints?  what issues were you having with the flex-c-ment?  anything you would have done different?  I have a rather large retaining wall I need to do.  It is made of REAL limestone.  I'm thinking of doing the cap stones with vertical carved concrete, and then pouring a concrete slab up to the VCC.  I like the look you got.  Did you work from the bottom up, or the top down?  One tread at a time?

Yeah I basically started from the top and went down one step at a time. Just the lack of thickness that I was looking for. I would skim the whole step. Tread and riser
Let it set up for a while,stamp the whole top w/ a few different mats, then cut the shape of the rocks. I had to let it sit for a few hours before I could the right surface to carve the faces then once I had the whole project carved I stained the day before I sealed.
