This is a hard shell system we do, that is done over recycled tarp bags used for polystyrene beads. It was done 2yrs ago & still together with great strength. No wire was used, just directly applied over the bags which gave it shape. That's also after the harsh winters we get living in the snow belt here in Ohio. So the system actually withstood several feet of snow, freezing & thawing and still doing good. I would of like to done better on the stones as far as shape, but it was more of a test of the system then anything.

Those look really nice...coloring is great.  I have a feeling someones bumper will give you the longevity test long before the weather :-)  did you leave the tarp in place, and flip and remove?

Kind Regards,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for the comments.. No bumpers yet..lol...But they are hard as rocks and I did try to drive the 4 wheeler onto them to test strength the following season and they showed no weakness when I did.  I leave the tarp bags under when I do the system. If you look at the photos I have with "Jaws" the alligator, that was a temp set-up and when I had to break it apart it was no easy task by any means. It was up for 2yrs and took quite a while to break apart. The bags are easy to come by, it's a form of recycling and allows for large stones at a affordable price for the core compared to (EPS) foam that we usually use for our projects.

Thanks Curt

Do you have any EPS manufactures near you? Or you may buy foam from? If so, they toss out there tarps bags that hold the poly beads (6'or 8' x 4' x 4'  Big Bags). My supplier is always happy when I grab them from him. They are totally free, very thick plastic and depending how many you get that day, you can actually use them to stuff themselves to get your rough form or scrap foam etc.. Completely free & recycling...I love it and the finish product comes out great with a major savings when doing a large project....
