this may sound dumb but i will  ask any way. Why use all the foam? wouldn't it be quicker and easier to form with rebar and lathe and scratch coat, then carve coat? seems like a lot of extra work, not understanding the principle behind it all

There is never a dumb question, on this project a concrete box had already been poured. Instead of  tying into the existing concrete I found this to be the most effective method.

How did you fabricate your foam cutter? I have some basic info but no understanding how to actually put it together. I have a batt charger but no wire ( ? ) or any handle. I hope you can help

do you find it easier to build out of foam first then to use rebar in this application

Hey Russel,

I wish I had a better answer but we bought our big foam cutter from a manufacturer in Canada. I'm sure you can google it and you can find something. You can buy sickles and hot knives from a company called Demand products and another is  Wind lock corp. There actually tons of them out there.

Hi Dale,

On this project they already had a concrete base poured with with all the plumbing in place. So installing and carving with foam was our only affordable option. We then coated the foam with a PMC coating this performed extremely well.
