Haha. I hope none of you are planning on moving to my neck of the woods! I don't want to be training my competitors! I definitely agree with Christian. Spot on mate!!!!!!!!
Heck no, no one's moving up there by you, Dion. You're about to be buried under snow and ice for the next 5 months! I'm moving down by Dobert, especially since all your tips are going to have him so busy he can hire all of us and keep us busy through winter!!!
LOL I hear you there. It is a mad push for me to find and schedule indoor work right now. I am thinking once both my kids are graduated (which will be pretty soon) i want to try and do a little within this industry. We will see how that goes..........................................
believe it or not about 55% of my work is from repeat customers and about 30% are referrals from those repeat customers and the remaining 15% from advertising and cards posted throughout the county. i have great relationships with most of my costumers and very good more shld i say buiss relationships with the others. what im hearin from you guys is that i need to utilize those relationships get my to them or them close to it and really talk and listen and let the job build itself till i can close the deal. plus all the other great ideas that you guys are giving me here im feelin good about this and have really enjoyed hearing from each one of you!
dion do not frett i am not moving anywhere close to you any time soon i actually like my sweat box semi tropical paradise that i live in! lol! david the beer is ice cold and the tiki hut is warmed up you come on down anytime and as for all that work im gunna generate usin all your guys advise im gearin up for a big push here and hopefully theres more work than we know what to do with!!!
If you enjoy reading at all, I'd really suggest reading this book about selling (the Greatest Salesman in the World, by Og Mandino). For me, this was one of the easiest books that had a great storyline about how to become the best seller. I bought a copy and passed it around to several people. Its something you can read in one or two nights and something I'm pretty sure you will pass along as well.
Something else that was pretty fun is "the Little Red Book of Selling" Of the two, I really suggest the first.
hello kenny! as of right now im 99% sure i will be there as long as things work out financially im there!! buiss is up so i cant complain i wish it was a bunch of carving work but like i said im very glad to have work! p.s the deer hunter was hilarious!! thanks for the shout! hope all is well with you to.
kenny thats pretty crazy cuz that is the exact idea that led me to this awsome craft!! and i made 2 and they work great only this was way before nathan va site or any training on my part what so ever they came out ok i will post a cple pics when i find them.
Hey Scott
After using powder release what do u do to remove it? Do u just vaac it off or do u spray it down? Some people say it's enough to just shop vac it off but I feel like there s still a bunch of it on there . . .
usually do what i can to wash it down but in home a good vacing and alittle brush off with a fox tail works besides when you color if theres still some there it changes up the color a bit and can lead to cool looking color effects .
....what kind of materijal do you use,do you make it yourself?...in my country dont have much choice..i use materijal from staylebeton...and for our standards it is very expensive....
hey there drazen!! sometimes some of us make it ourselves i believe for mostly practice and things but for jobs most use a pre mix bag. as for tools i would say there fairly cheap . if you can afford it get a subscription to the vertical artisans training site it has a wealth of knowledge on how to do many things including some basic tools.
hello all! just wanted to touch base.I am on the road heading for north Carolina for the holidays! I see I have missed a lot and hope to be back on a computer by tomorrow. hope everyone has a great week!!!
HELLO ALL!! i just wanted to tell everybody MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! I HOPE ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE HOLIDAY!! i know this is early but i may not get to many more chances to get on a coputer for a cple days sooo......
Hello Scott, what's up? I was thinking about your comment about doing signs in FL. What if you showed what you could do to the right sign company, maybe with a pic of Jeff's, then let them do the framework, epoxying rebar into concrete, then what you are doing is just faux-finish work over what should be a very easy to approve structure. You could turn the sign co loose to sell your work, or you could do the sales, then use them for the initial phase that had to have the licensing. Sometimes legal approval is all in the lingo used. Maybe it's not concrete work, it's faux finish! I don't imagine there's a Miami-Dade hurricane code requirement for faux, is there? Hmmm...
I'm still getting used to using the site. I left you a comment that turns up on my page. Anyways, Thanks again and I'll be sure to ask questions. I've been stamping a few yeats time to hand carve!
sorry these photos are not of concrete art however both items will be getting or being used in conjunction with hand carved vert concrete. just thought i would share the process!
they are extremely expensive here also but whats funny to me is people that have bought those doors ennd up seeing my doors and say thats what i really wanted!
Scott, Thanks for the warm welcome! Since this is just a hobby my home, and a creative outlet for me (graphic artist/photographer by trade) I'm trying to justify the cost of a membership to myself.
Osiris, you are on the right track. The question is what do you have access to as far as pozzalons, admixtures, and such. That has all the bearing on what you mix can consist of. Try not to over complicate things. People make it more complex than it really is to make it seem hard for consumer to get. You need about five ingrediants or less to make a great mix.
