Thanks for the stash compliment. It was getting a little large, so i really trimmed it down before I took the photo. I didn't want to look ridiculous, you know!
Hi Nathan, thanks for your comments. The customers are absolutely delighted; they kind of didn't know what to expect really, although I had shown them pictures of other walls and let them see a stone plaque that I'd made, but the final result surpassed all their expectations
Ok Nathan I watched the 3D Lichens video on demand and all I have to say is that raises the bar in detail. It was well worth the small fee to have a hint of the concept much less get all of the concept awesome work to you and Mike and thanks for sharing the knowledge. I can't wait to get rolling on something so I can try it out, I just saw some Lichens up close on the parkway recently and Mike nailed the illusion of them, Flawless!
Thanks Nathan,
I was just checking my email for the clients new phone number and saw your comments. I know I should have internal confluence of confidence and happiness in my own work and not need the praises of other to validate my work. However it is great when I get Kudos from people especially those who know and do this type of art. It just makes you warm and fuzzy all over. I
have to leave in a few minutes to meet with the client and go over his invoice. There was a lot of extras in this one.
I was also training two new guys and you should have seen one them freaking out as I was dashing my stippling on. You could see his face just falling as I was doing it. Jake said "Are you sure your not covering up what we just did" I said " your going to have to just trust me Jake and would you step back your making me nervous" After we were done he said " Man it worked, I thought for sure it was going to cover it up, I thought we were done before you even did the stippling, that just made it POP!!"
Thanks again for the comments and the forum. I need to do more encouraging also.
Oh one other exciting ( at least to me) thing, I have been making carved concrete containers for several years now. I started doing them in college. Recently I came up with a way to lay them up, carve and color them in about 20 minutes. My guys call them the Basalt bowls. I hope to have some on the forum in the next week or so
Thanks Nathan. Yes gravity is a problem. We have been doing some vertical but most of it is along the limestone stamped look in showers and walls. Haven't had much success with getting vertical hand carved work yet. I believe it is coming.
Hi Nathan, I read in one of your posts. to someone you once used simply portland, sand, and water, now I have to use the same thing, maybe you could give some useful tips on using these materials, such as .. .. in which the ratio used it, etc. Thanks! fan of your work Tima
Hey Nathan- Keep up the good work and thanks for expanding the rock world for us. I like the audiophile option you set up with JoeS! I have the Extremist, put up another one! Talk soon---K
copy and paste this link. It's a video containing references. It's in an area called Drumheller Alberta. It's about an hour from where I live and it is where the largest deposit of dinosaur bones on earth is found. Really neat formations.http://vimeo.com/6809639
was wonderin if i could have 3D designs put under my name as that is my vert concrete and furniture buiss name. srry i watched the webinar and that made me realize i might want to put that on there. thanks

I believe I have done what you have asked of me? What is the drop box? I have not had any problem sending 4or5 pics via email before? Let me know what you need.................
#141 is a beauty! Amazing carving, and every detail in the job perfectly compliments the others. The video guy did great in such a cramped space, too. Thanks!
Nathan, when I first found this site 2 1/2 years ago, I thought I could do this. Then after watching all the training videos 2 or 3 times, I knew I could do this, now after today, I know I CAN do this. Although just a beginner, I did this, and much better than hoped. Thanks for shortening the curve for all of us who want to learn this craft!!!
Nathan or anybody if you want a good stone history. I live in Amherst Ohio sand stone capital of the world. The book is called "images of America Amherst Ohio".Here is the # 1-888-313-2665 or sale@arcadiapubishing.com to order a copy very cool.
Hi Nathan. I went to the forum chat but could not leave a message. I do not know how. I am interested in renewing my subscription with you as I got a new computor and hope the vidios will work out better. I did not figure out how to get the code. Don Hansen
Woow Nathan what I can say about you , It really inspire us your history, You are a whole model that a lot of us will be glad to to say they had the chance to meet and learn from you .
I appreciate the kind words, actually any words are fine. As you have stated and as many others have also in the past (you) as in yourself can be your hardest critic after a job is complete and would have done or added things. Every project has its own unique hurdles that pictures cant explain
yes Nathan I am planning on coming...very excited to meet all you guys....very talented group. I messaged you, I thought, :) when you made the annoucement about the classes. I figured you had plenty to organize before you would respond back.
Please include me for the 3 classes. Let me know what else I need to do
I generally use the mix... create a clay like substance with it and rub it in before you paint... if it is indoors I have used crayons the color of the stone... wax , wood filler, anything that matches... the cracks disappear and never return...
Hi Nathan. I have the moon gate scratch coated And will start carving tomorrow. I added the 2 extra pieces that was sent to the end of the moon gate and will create a curved wall with them.
