hi josh... do you need to apply wood preservative on the arches. does wood rot with time from cement alkalinity and moisture?

Hi osiris. happy new year everybody! There was building paper and lath applied before the scratch coat to protect the wood from absorbing the moisture from the cement. Wood that is not waterproofed properly will swell and cause serious problems, especially on exterior applications.
