Hi Tima- So Cool. My son studied a bit in Japan and I showed him your pic... He sent me this...

"The character means life as in "to be alive," but not like "to reside" or "live on stage." It doesn't mean much by itself in Japanese other than carrying that vague connotation of being alive. In Chinese it may mean life or "to live" by itself. It is used by itself in Japanese to mean raw or fresh though.
It also has the meaning of characteristic of existence, and some other random meanings.
生きる = ikiru, to live or be alive
生き物 = ikimono, living creature or being
生物学 = seibutsugaku, biology
生む／生まれる = Umu/umareru, to give birth/to be born
生まれて初めて = umarete hijimete, "for the first time in my life."
人生 = jinsei, life as in "mortal existence"
生活 = seikatsu, lifestyle
先生 = sensei, teacher
学生 = gakusei, student
生 = nama, raw
生ビール = nama biiru, draught beer
(note: "sei" is pronounced "say")"

Probably more than you'll ever need to know, but it's cool to see how these different words are all tied to the same pictograph and categorized.
You  just carved the character for draught beer in the rock!!! Cheers
