My first try at wood

Blain, da ain`t bad for a first try, lol. Very good looking, sort of industrial looking with those dark stones.
Love it !
Thanks . The set we are doing is like a castle. I just want to brake up the stone look.
Yes Blain, I take back the term industrial. Perfectly castle-like. Seems you didn`t use a bark text roller, did you? And regarding question asked by another member: what would be the best choice to come up with a whitish stone? like Nathan`s and may others`? I`m thinking about probably adding white portland, etc., but may not be practical nor cost effective. Would latex paint wash work? Thanks for input.
I did not use a bark text. This was all cut in with a knife. I'll post more pix of what I did today.Portland may work , but I use white latex to wash out my mortar. It doesn't take much to wash out the color. This was done with plaster so it was white from the start. Hope this helps.
Yes sure helps, just another question Blain: did you use any piece of wood as reference? Very nice knife work for the wood grain, and knots!
No Nelson. I just started cutting it into wet plaster. I did look at some wood on is site.
Thanks Blain, pretty good, simple and effective lesson learnt.
