I have tried many different combinations of concrete additives along with every sealer I can get ahold of to try and prevent acid rain from etching my outdoor concrete installation. I will admit that I do like the aging process, that ancient look and the cool formations of lichen growth but on some of my work it would be nice to keep the original smooth surface. The best sealer I use last about a year outdoors if that and most clients (I don't either) go out every year or so to reapply sealer. What do you vertical concrete artist do to keep the outer surface of your outdoor work from getting the "sandblasted" look five or so years down the way?
