Hi guys. As I was navegating on internet, I came across a proposal from a man who was seaking people to share cost of instructional videos from this very site: V A Some of the responses were not fit to recall them here...LOL, but in all that´s exactly my proposal now : to ask if some would join to split the cost of some rock carving instructional videos of great artists here. That is, if it´s ok. Nathan , would that go against some fórum rules? I have wanted to access to those videos, but I cannot spend that much money.....Could this be done, it be nice to split the bill with 5 0r 6 people. Look forward to positive outcome. Thanks

Wow, thanks for altruistic answers...LOL

If anybody cares, and if it´s  allowed, I´ll be surprisingly glad to hear....

This is a bit of an old post, but I am new to the forum as I just completed some hands on training with Nathan.  I was hesitant to foot the bill as I have been positive carving for a few years and have already dabbled into a few hundred square feet of stone carving.  I can tell you that the investment is WELL WORTH it!  I came home from class and carved a 60 square foot bar face as well as pouring a realistic stone counter top the very next day, and the caliber of my work had leaped forward by 5 years of learning as I go.  On top of that, this is a great way to save some money.  We paid for hands on training and received a couple of the online courses and a units of hardscapes system material with it.  For about the cost of an online course.

I was lucky enough that there was a training 2.5 hours from me, but I waited about 6 months to attend one that close.

That would be a violation of the site rules....

You can only log on with your log in data one at a time.... if you log in again it will block you or boot you.

if 5 - 6 people would "share" the cost of the videos then that would mean they would all have to share one seat at the table....

1.) it would not be fair to all the other students that have paid for their education

2.) it would not be right to the artists that is selling the data to you.  These guys work hard and should be compensated for the knowledge that they share.

3.) Try telling your wife that your refrigerator will now be shared with 5 - 6 other woman and your children's clothing will have to be parceled to the rest of the kids on the block.

4.) Somebody worked really hard to make that information available.   Countless hours and thousands of dollars have been spent to provide this information for a fair price.

These statements are not directed to you per say, but more to the mind set that I frequently have to deal with.

How much money is your education worth?

Should somebody else pay for your education?

Its basic in nature... its piracy

Lets carry out the question to its logical conclusion.

Free Beer!

is beer free?  No.  somebody had to make it, somebody had to bottle it, pay for the bottle, pay for the delivery, pay for it to be served.

Somebody had to pay for that beer.  But you got it for free.

Like in politics... "Free education"   is education really free ... absolutely not.  a lot of people are paying for it.

You can not multiply wealth by dividing it.  This is basic economics....

The temptation to sell somebody else's data would also be great... "Hey everybody I will give you access to the is site that cost $$$ if you give me $"

If this prevailed informations sites like VA would never servive and the data and craft would be lost in history.

Now getting back to people who can not afford the cost of the course...

If you have a hardship email me... tell me about your situation.  we can work something out.

But piracy will result in IP addresses being banned off the site... one would not even be able to pull up the web address.

Hi Nathan.

All the foregoing explanations sound realistic and fair. No violation was ever considered, just an idea.... an idea that pops  up as means to achieve something, if posible within legal limits. I will contact you Nathan privately too, but since I initiated this point publicly , seems apropriate to state what´s behind such "odd" proposal... I will make a long story short. The country I live in has undergone in the last 5 years the worst economic, social, political and ethical crisis ever known in history. Last year´s inflation was around 3oo % , and this year acording to the IMF,  inflation should be over  700 % ....   In fact, 10 years ago the cost of the instructional videos, would have been very afordable... NO PROBLEM . Likewise, some products like acid stains, sealers, and many others have to be imported from US, Europe or else where, so nowdays it´s prohibitive to offer doing some art work as only very  rich people could afford to pay such high costs. It all boils down to a sad fact; this F... ING political regime has destroyed the monetary value of our currency and the country as whole impoverished  by the most corrupt government in power....

Obviously, I can only speak for myself, but perhaps, such valuable instructional videos could be made more readily available to more folks, if the tutorial was sold like in three part per say, of any other form which the owner could suggest...

Though I lived in the US for many years, it may be helpful to anyone  Reading  this ODD post, to understand that some  seemingly RICH countries like Venezuela  (as  this one used to be) are not so anymore, and we  the  citizens have to bear the hardship  brought about  by our pathetic  government .... Thanks all for the replies.

By the way, getting   a free beer was not the intention,  but it sure crossed my mind to buy a couple cases with some guys... Not allowed though ! ....LOL
