This beautiful stone work was covered by stucco! The homeowner has been renovating very carefully and repointing all the work. Thought I would share. The eves are all 3x5 Slate cantilevered and stacked stone on top for the roof system. They have it traced back to 1873 but believe it is early 1800s

It was very common turn of the century to cover both brick and stone. I was a member of a preservation association in Allentown, PA(OAPA) and we saw such atrocities all the time. They did it though for good reason, cost, weather protection, and ascetics of the time.
