All self taught, I had a graphic design background but really the best way to learn is to dig in and have fun. I'll post another piece that we work on a few months back.

I like the idea of using real rock in your work. Nathan once said that the main drawback of using EPS is expensive gluing. Is this one large block?  What glue to use? Do you recommend steel lath or fiberglass? Is it durable... I mean does it holdup if someone stepped on it during maintenance? Will it crack if you lean on it accidently? I hope I don’t overwhelm you with my questions

Hi Osiris,

We buy blocks of foam 28 at a time. They are approximately 4ft. by 3ft. by 8 ft long. There are all types of adhesives that  can be used which are affordable. PL premium is one Dryvit Primus adhesive is another. We have reinforced with a number of materials, the hot tub posted was a 6 oz. fiberglass mesh embedded with a base coat such as re bar is suspended in concrete. We then spray our next base coats and carve. As for the durability an architect once tested one of our pieces with a hammer for a shopping mall and could not believe the strength. Hope this helps.  I forgot to mention, what I find that most artist do not realize what there work is worth. The hot tub in the picture shown was around $50,000 Canadian, so thats probably 30 American LOL.
