Right handed guys seem to favor starting from the upper right and descend to the lower left when creating fractures or striations.  At least that was my problem, but I have seen it many times by fellow right handed carvers.

 

The work looks awesome... don't let it bother you.   Switch it next time, make sure that even the cracks are moving in different directions.  You work is good.  I congratulate you.
