i think it s  happend  about  a water, your mortar was too grout, or thin scratch coat, it s cant absorb too mach water , and mortar not harden , i also have that problem on angles ,

Dave.  Corners are the most common place for failure.  Reason is how they are constructed.  They have to hold up a lot of weight especially if you don't do them in two steps. You look to be at least an inch and a half in that section.  That's a few pounds of mix just dangling.  If you don't have it fully embedded in an aggressive scratch coat, this is gonna happen. Two steps involves placing material on faces first and corners second(where it can lock into the firmer face).  Confusing?  Catch me tomorrow.

I think our scratch coat was too thin, and not aggressive enough. All in all, very few issues like that. The overhead was VERY tough. We hope to get better with each attempt, and all your feedback is very much appreciated!

hey david, everything is looking great, your like a pro already.lol. Way to keep those boys busy. I hope they enjoy the craft as we do. Ive found on overhead, if you put a blob of mix on a trowel and take another trowel and slide the mix off the trowel and smash it in the scratch coat kinda in one motion it works better, if that makes sense. It seems if you go 2 thinner coats at a time it stays better. Put one on and let it sit a bit to get a bite on the scratch, then go back a bit thicker with the second coat, it will stick easier. A mist of water may help also. I am sure you will have it down before this project is all said and done. Again thankyou for the kind words and good luck buddy.
