Hi Stefan, I started with just a plain, red brick, fireplace. From beginning to end of this project it took me apx. 120 hrs, for this 12 X 8 ft  fireplace wall. For just the part that you see in the photo, (above the mantle piece which is 4ft X 5ft) it took me apx. 40 hrs.
