MIKE YOU ARE AMAZING!! this model is a work of art WOW! seeing you climbing around it really brings home the true scale of this amazing model!! i love the fact that you chose as many discrimanate places to hide your seams where the 5 pieces come togeather. the detail alone is really really amazing!! i really hope to train with you at the west coast training. we shall see..... again amazing .... i hope to see this project come to reality through the forum here!!

You know, after reading Scott's remarks, he brings up a few great points.

Mike Vernelson is an amazing artist in this industry and very humble! His teaming up with Nathan at the West Coast Training Center is something that anyone serious in this industry should attend. I have spent a lot of $ attending multiple different artist's classes around the U.S. and I can honestly say "Mike Vernelson is the best artist I have taken a class with". This model is a testiment to what he does. Imagine the real project itself!

Training with Mike is something you should invest in. Once you do, you will not regret it! The West Coast Training Center is a very unique facility that is going to be a work of art when complete. Nolan and Nathan have put together a great class and I can assure you this 2nd one is going to be great!

I hope to see you there and I look forward to meeting the ones that are attending this April!

Mike this is great man. Is this something your bidding? I cant wait to work with you in Eugene again. Im carving under a bridge for UDOT in April. Its my shot at impressing the state UDOT folks. What would it take to have you out for a couple of days in April.

Geez, I should be paying you guys for nice remarks like that! Thank you! I was hired by another company to design the rockwork and build the model. Designing a project like this is just plain FUN, but the shear dynamics of getting everything correct as a working model definately had its headaches and I was married to this thing MUCH longer than I wanted too. There is a little lesson to be learned by all  if you look at the large peices of rock "minimized" like this into model form. If you notice the detail in this rock consists of mostly "edges" rather than actual fractures through the rock.  Correctly shaped large peices with attention paid to good looking edges create their own shadows in the feature. Shadows translate into detail in the peice. Always keep in mind that that good shape is most impotant and cutting and fracturing within that shape is secondary and should be used as "icing on the cake".
