I used 80lb bags of Sakrete scratchcoat mix for both the scratch coat over the expanded metal lathe and for the texture coat. I don't have easy access to any of the Vertical Mixes here in Sacramento. Can't wait to try one out though....this is my first attempt at anything concrete.
