Another 6 bags today. That makes a total of 34 sacks of Sakrete stucco base to-date. From here on out I'm buying the sand and cement components separately.

What you have done so far is very fine. It is certainly more economical to mix your own material.

Thanks Don,

My wife was expecting me to build a simple wooden rectangular sandbox...You can imagine how thrilled she was to hear that I used up the 34 bags and still have so much more to complex. I believe I will be sleeping in this particular "sandbox" before I'm finished...:)

Yes a combination cave and sandbox. Still have about half the exterior to texture yet. On the inside I plan on a fairly smooth surface so they don't get too scratched up by the rock.

I spent about 4 days on the substrait, 3-4 days on the scratch coat (mixing and laying it up alone), and 3 long days so far on the texturing. I've run out of mix so I need to get a load of sand from the local material supply and pick up some bags of plastic cement from Home Depot. I have some bonding agent to use on the scratch coat and to add to the water in my mix.

And I thank both of you (Scott D.) and Jeff for your support and advice. I've looked at all the projects both of you have posted and am inspired by both of you. I appreciate your willingness to share what you have, and  will do the same.
