the leave is carved, I have been doing acid stain for more than 5 years and yours floor is the best acid stain floor that I saw

Thank you for the complement. Yes this is my first project. I did use boulder formations for the colors. I'm currently working on a second project with a classmate from my hand carving vertical concrete class. We are doing 2 columns and 3 arches in her basement. It's alot of work but it's looking amazing!

to do the whole project take 15 days .between three people hte flour de liz in the foor is hand made with grainer.I have a machine to cut the floor call manguse with her I can make perfect circles and many different things but the small things I must do with hand..

Randy, Great photo's. I really like your carved step work, but you are a very well-rounded artisan. Like a Picasso with A.D.D. I never thought I'd see a live human face carver here, either. As for some of your questions, I am using a sealer from DuPont that is a modified version of a catalyzed automotive clearcoat. It's hard to obtain, at least reliably, but I am working on a better source that I can pass on to all on this network without any additional markup. The satin finish would blow you away with how natural it looks and feels. I am with you regarding epoxies. I always hated the look, feel, performance and application issues. That doesn't leave much to like. I haven't heard of the one you mentioned, but should probably check it out. The colors I mostly use are Smith Paints. I have a feeling we'll probably share a few pointers back and forth over time, let me know if you want to know how I sell texture. It's not too difficult. By the way, if you haven't done so already, check out bobby Leatherwood's Picassacrete page. Top notch textured tops there as well. Stay in touch!

Just saw your last comment. We must be on here at the same time. I sure wish I could tell you that I had some great master plan and the ideal materials for that pub job. Fact is, the whole thing was done on the fly. The base is Miracote micro over quarry tile. Smith Paints applied random by trowel for the background. The logo and border was hand drawn by my 16 yr old from a business card and a celtic design found by the owner, and he made a paper stencil of the dog/knot to keep the four corners consistent. We used a bunch of metallics, done by adding pearlex powders to the stains. They wanted an old world, hand painted look, and we were able to deliver. It sure was fun. Not as clean as your world map design, which I sure liked. Let's see that one finished up, by the way.

Oh yeah, the website is a sore subject. I made my own site, and it looked good. I didn't know what I was doing, so it loaded a bit slow. A "professional" said he could fix it up, and while he made it load fast, he made it look like crap. I was so mad, I had one of my boys disable it and start work on a new one. Until then........

Yes, of course I remember you. You were so helpful when I did my first Skimstone job there in Olympia. Actually, that was my last job, too. I haven't been advertising whatsoever. Too busy with the kids and my husband's business. I will definitely check out your photos. Sounds like you're keeping very busy, even though the economy hasn't been so great. It helps to have a specialty. I would be interested in going to one of your job sites in the future to check out your formula. That would be great. I joined the forum after you told me about it. Nobody except for David Driggs has ever contacted me, but I don't think I responded because he didn't tell me where he was from. It looks he's someone you know. I've gotten a few pranks from people looking for things other than concrete work, if you know what I mean. :-) So thanks for your note, and maybe I'll see you on a job site sometime.

hi randy , the blade is a normal blade ..I do sealer with sprayers to, dut and so lazier to cleaning afther the work,.for that I use rollerwhen the job is small....thank for waching my video....
