Thank you so much!  Truly.   This was all done using Tru Pac.  All the mud went up at one time.  Where Dr. Bobs face is is about 3/4" thick.  The rest is 1.5"-2" thick.  My wife and I worked on it jointly, we lightly carved out the faces then shadowed it using a little air brush.
