Hey Nathan, a tribute to Mike Vernelson it may be, but it's a tribute to your craftsmanship also. The work is excellent. I don't have much time to look in lately, but from what I know, you haven't been doing this style for that long. Cheers to adaptability.
I've worked with natural stone for a long time, and I recognise the texture, clefts, fissures, etc, in this work. The lichens are like that found in nature. Sometimes they're subtle, sometimes so strong in appearance they can even look unreal, or at least over-powering. Also, my observations are from a fresh eye, sometimes it's easy to get 'blind' to your own work, because your so involved in it.
Is this work in sand/cement, or bagged mix?
Is the finish paint, or stains?
