well  I've now moved to the Tampa area and am ready to get started in vertical concrete.  Bought Nathans online program, a reasonable amt of experience in past with specialty concrete, and time to get setup.

I need to get some hand on practice/experience and make sample boards. Will be focusing on indoor walls and thinking brick/stone/wood looks, and use of EPS foam for build-outs (shelving, ledges, cutouts, and maybe faux fireplaces) will be a good direction to start in. Not particularly interested in making outdoor rocks or caverns.

How have you guys gone about making "customer sample boards" that are reasonable transportable?

What has been your best "practice venues" rather than a live customer's site?

Thx

Glenn

When I first started I made sample boards, but not to carry around .... I found quickly that they were very cumbersome and damaged easily..

So do the next best thing.... create sample boards then photograph them in various light and then THROW them out LOL

Nathan,

Thanks, yes pictures for sure.  Be best to use plywood or cement sheet-rock board as a base? Also, for interior work can the carve mix be applied directly to a plywood substrate plus bonding agent and lathor must a scratch coat always come first?

Thx Glenn

Glenn all these methods are taught in the CORE course on the VA site... are you a member?
