Introduction

Hello All,

I just want to start out by saying, I am really impressed by all of the Artists here on the Forum. All of you have your own creativity in your work that makes you unique.
Nathan, Thank You for the knowledge and insight. It is amazing. My background is in woodworking so I am learning a great deal about the different products. We have experimented with concrete countertops for outdoor kitchens we build and I think this new craft is a perfect fit for me and can take us to the next level in this area.

My first project will be a shower surround and accent wall in a bathroom for a friend. I am looking for advise on which material and sealer to use in the shower. I am very paranoid when using new product around water applications.

As for the shower....whatever application you use it will need to be in completely sealed .... I am almost considering an epoxy spray. I say that because the water, soap, body scum and cleaning that a shower environment goes through. merits such a protective covering.

Hi Jason, I've done several bath and shower surrounds as well as showers with a Limestone product called Arcusstone, and have had excellent results. Because its limestone fungus and bacteria don't seem to grow on it., and I've never had any leaks. After I've applied it I seal it with a clear, matte finish , water-based sealer and it's a done deal. Bobby Leatherwood ( who is also a member of Vertical Artisans) has produced a limestone bagged product as good or maybe better than the product I've used. Jason just saw your post. I have been using a two part seal made by Arizona polymer. Epoxy 200 and then Polyurethane 501. Both water base. I buy the urethane 501 matt. I keeps the stone looking very real and together completely seal the shower. Let me know if you need any other info.
